Finished reeds for professionals
and discerning amateur bassonists

REEDS

My reeds are slowly and carefully made from cane selected from Danzi, Donati, Gonzales, Neuranter and others depending on quality and availability.

Profiling is on Pfeifer and Rieger machines and I use a special custom shaper. The reeds are painstakingly finished and are fully tested on a 9000 series Heckel before shipment.

They are pitch-stable, play freely, and are resonant over the entire range of the bassoon.

"My preliminary assessment: /Damn good reed!/ It was a little softer than I have been used to, so the first several notes from it were almost buzzy, but a slight embouchure adjustment took care of that. I was impressed with how loudly it can play, yet is still able to produce a delicate tongued pianissimo, even on the low Bb. Will use it in the orchestra concert this Friday."
